On the afternoon of September 9th, the welcoming meeting of 2020 postgraduates of the School of Economics and Management was grandly held in the Auditorium in the Sipailou Campus. In the solemn singing of the national anthem, the welcoming meeting of new 2020 postgraduate students officially kicked off.
Secretary Yuan Jianhong first extended a warm welcome to the 2020 students coming to Southeast University and introduced in detail the long history of the School of Economics and Management of Southeast University and the current discipline construction of the school. Secretary Yuan said that the School of Economics and Management has a strong faculty and a relatively complete talent training system, which has trained a large number of entrepreneurs and professionals for SEU and society. Then, Secretary Yuan emphasized that the School of Economics and Management has provided students with a very free learning environment and good learning conditions, and encouraged students to go abroad for academic exchanges in addition to learning in the classroom. Finally, Secretary Yuan raised three hopes for the students. First, aim high and strive to be a pioneer in economy and management; second, be down-to-earth and develop excellent skills; third, don’t stop until reaching perfection and create a brilliant life.

Professor Zhong Weijun introduced the characteristics, development history, strength, and talent cultivation of Management Science and Engineering. He said that the Discipline of Management Science and Engineering has excellent faculty and pursues international cutting-edge original theoretical research. Teachers of this discipline play an important role in decision-making consultation at the municipal level, provincial level, and national level. Professor Zhong Weijun also raised hopes for the future of the students. He hoped that the students would not only learn knowledge but also master advanced methods through their postgraduate studies, not only level up the academic qualifications but also enhance the skills, especially in the width and depth of thought.

Professor Xu Kangning from the Discipline of Applied Economics reviewed, with deep feeling, the long construction history, discipline development, and talent cultivation of the Discipline of Applied Economics of Southeast University, and then briefly introduced the research field of Applied Economics and the citation of papers in this discipline, as well as the development direction and goal of the Discipline of Applied Economics in the future. At the same time, he hoped that students would live a good life as postgraduates, care about the country, care about economic trends, and write excellent papers. He suggested that students should have ambitious goals, academic feelings, a broad vision, the integration of theory and practice, and curiosity.

Professor Li Dong from the Discipline of Business Administration briefly introduced the characteristics, construction process, faculty, enrollment, and a series of achievements of the Discipline of Business Administration, as well as the academic accumulation, training objectives, and discipline requirements of the current discipline. Finally, he put forward his hopes for the future of the students through a short story. He wished that students can recognize the important role the three postgraduate years played in their whole life. Teacher Li Dong said that three years of a master's degree is the most suitable time to make choices. He hoped that students should forge their ability to choose and judge, strive to accumulate solid knowledge, have a calm attitude, and make better choices for their lives.

Zhang Yulin, Vice Dean of the School of Economics and Management, first expressed his best wishes to the new students, then introduced in detail the postgraduate training program and training requirements of the school, reminding students to make training plans and other things. At the same time, Dean Zhang also expressed his hope that students would study hard, communicate more with their supervisors, and strive to publish core papers, placing deep expectations on students.

Yang Meng, a 2018 grade postgraduate student, made a speech as the representative of the postgraduate students at the school. First, she reviewed the changes in the campus construction and the rapid development of the discipline construction during her eight-year study life in SEU. Then, taking Professor Qiu Haibo as an example, she explained that as a SEUer, we should have the feeling of home and country, and international perspectives, and should strive to become a leading talent to lead the future and benefit mankind. She also expressed her best wishes to all the new students of 2020.

Shang Sijia, the representative of the new postgraduate student of 2020, first expressed her gratitude to the leaders, teachers and volunteers who had participated in the orientation work in recent days, and also expressed her pride and joy in becoming a SEUer. She called on all the 2020 postgraduate students to inherit the spirit of striving for the best, to have perseverance, face difficulties and challenges, and work hard to become an outstanding SEUer!

Finally, the welcoming meeting of 2020 postgraduates was successfully concluded in the chorus of "the School Song of Southeast University".
Subsequently, the disciplines of Management Science and Engineering, International Trade, Enterprise Management, Technical Economy and Management, Asset Appraisal, Accounting, Master of Accounting, Finance, Master of Finance, Industrial Economics, National Economics, Regional Economics, Logistics Engineering, Logistics Engineering and Management, Library Information and Archives Management, etc. held sub-professional supervisor meetings at the branch venue. The postgraduate supervisors met with the new students, introduced the discipline specialty in detail, and guided the students to formulate training plans.
As early as a month ago, the school began to actively prepare for the orientation work, elaborately designed the process, and carefully prepared the materials. Secretary Yuan Jianhong, Deputy Secretary He Yi, and other heads of the school came to the site on behalf of the school to do the orientation work, with volunteers providing warm services. 199 2020 postgraduate students of the school had registered for admission as scheduled, joined the big family of the School of Economics and Management, and started a new learning life!
