The 10th Yasha Adventure Introduction (YAI) was held in the Mongke Tengri desert of Alxa League, Nei Mongol from March 1st to 4th, 2021. More than 3600 contestants from 121 universities spend 3 days making their way through the desert, conquering the 70km (100km for the hyper-A team) challenge. EMBA and MBA students from SEU took part in the competition as two teams separately. After enduring the scorching sun and whirling sands of the wild, the two teams, implementing the belief of “Green, Cooperation, Persistence, Responsibility”, had won great prizes with their relentless spirits and became the “Twin Sand Gull” Team in everyone’s focus.

The YAI “Twin Sand Gull” prize cup of SEU
This competition, including most of Asia & Pacific’s top business college EMBA/MBA groups, is acknowledged as the largest desert challenge in the world by the WRCA. It has four groups and three routes, which are 70km for the A team and B team, 36km for the C team, and 100km for the newly-added hyper-A team.
EMBA team of SEU has a total of 31 members. Through careful planning and adept strategic maneuvers, they had won 7 champions with tough minds and supreme ability, which were: the EMBA group champion, the women’s A team champion, the men’s A team’s first three places, the women’s B team champion, the men’s B team’s first three places, the first and third place of the men’s C team, and the women’s C team champion. One hyper-A team member from our school won 12th place. Our EMBA team has been the team’s main champion for two years, with 31 members all safely completing the challenges and winning the highest price: the Gold Sand Gull Gup.

The MBA team of SEU has a total of 23 members. Our young participants raced beside their superiors with passion and energy, living through every day with tenacious will and a fearless spirit. Holding the belief “Returning with the Sand Gull Cup” and the spirit of “Never give up”, the team members conquered unimaginable problems and completed the competition, once again winning the highest price: Sand Gull Cup

Thanks to the support from the heads of the School of Economics and Management that the EMBA/MBA teams made such outstanding achievements and became the “Twin Sand Gull” Team. The words “Be the desert warrior and the pioneer of our school” from secretary Yuan Jianhong had boosted the morale of the members. The spirit of “Cooperation and Glory” held by contestants will always resound in the enormous desert. This outstanding prize is not only from the hardship of any single member, but also from everyone’s cooperation. After the competition, the contestants said: “One tree does not make a forest. Only with the power of the whole team that we can reach this far.” Thanks to all teachers and students who put their efforts into this competition. The athletic spirit of “Together we make perfect, Fearless of the difficulties” of SEU shall continue to shine in the YAI!
