On the afternoon of August 9th, Zheng Jiamao, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Southeast University, conducted employment research and guidance at the School of Economics and Management. Gu Xin, Deputy Director of Student Affairs, and teachers of Career Guidance Center of Southeast University accompanied together. Yuan Jianhong, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Economics and Management, He Yi, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, and counselors of graduating class participated in the discussion. The meeting was chaired by Gu Xin.
At the meeting, He Yi, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Economics and Management, focusing on the employment work of the school, delivered a report on "Introducing, Assisting, Creating, and Practicing" to Improve the Quality of Employment and Precise Assistance to Promote the Development of Students. He gave a comprehensive introduction to the employment situation of Class 2021 and the employment plan for Class 2022. Then, he analyzed the difficulties and the causes of the employment work for graduating students in detail. He also put forward the following three work directions. Firstly, an internship is compulsory for students at university. In the future, we will strive to carry out reform and innovation in the formulation of talent training, practical teaching, apprenticeship employment and other programs to provide students with good work ability and practical experience before graduation. Secondly, school-enterprise education is the development direction. In the future, we will focus on cooperating with leading and cutting-edge enterprises in the economics and management industry to create high-end practice bases. At the same time, alumni companies will be used as another support to expose students to the real workplace environment through multiple channels to better achieve "person-job matching". Thirdly, it is an inevitable path to pursue international education. In the future, with the help of the school, we will make efforts to build a cooperative school network, carry out reciprocal exchange programs with mutual recognition of credits, and build more undergraduate and master's programs in humanities and social sciences to fully absorb international high-quality educational resources.
Yuan Jianhong, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Economics and Management, summed up the school's employment work in 2021. First of all, Secretary Yuan expressed her gratitude to the school for setting the School of Economics and Management as the first stop for employment research, which reflects the school's high emphasis on students’ training here. Then, Secretary Yuan analyzed the school's employment work in depth around the school's talent training orientation, talent training model reform, and employment itself. She proposed to take "reform" and "innovation" as the key points to solve problems where problems arise. Firstly, by applying for new majors and deepening the reform of general enrollment and training, we aim to form a virtuous circle in which employment is based on enrollment, and high-quality students actively choose the School of Economics and Management. Secondly, we will continue to accelerate the pace of educational internationalization, build an academic and cultural exchange platform with important international influence, extensively establish strategic partnerships with overseas top economics and management disciplines, and increase the proportion of students going abroad. Thirdly, strengthen the follow-up survey of graduation quality, comprehensively maintain the network of alumni resources, cultivate students' entrepreneurial awareness based on alumni resources and employment cooperation enterprises, and enhance students' abilities and responsibilities.
At the meeting, the teachers of the Employment Office and the school counselors also had a heated discussion on employment-related issues. Gu Xin, Deputy Director of the Student Affairs of Southeast University, proposed that we should provide value guidance to the students going to work, encourage graduates to work and exercise in tough areas and do a good job in the promotion of typical talents.
At the end of the meeting, Deputy Secretary Zheng Jiamao delivered a concluding speech and put forward the following four points. Firstly, we must grasp the general direction of social development. Under the situation of "Great Changes Unseen in a Century" and the guidance of the "Two Centenary" goals, the school must cultivate students' qualities of setting goals, firming aspirations, seizing opportunities, being brave to take responsibilities, and being able to seek for opportunities in uncertainty and enhance patriotism. Secondly, encourage students to get on the big stage. It is necessary to strengthen the guidance of students' employment values, and persistently encourage students to broaden their horizons and pursue greater development. Thirdly, continue to deepen the comprehensive reform of "Three Comprehensive Education". We should plan employment in advance, promote the co-construction and sharing of various platforms, and infiltrate value guidance from courses, management, and other aspects as soon as possible to betterly educating people. Fourthly, improve the overall development level of the school. Pay attention to school rankings and subject rankings, fundamentally promote employment, and cultivate leading talents with patriotism and international vision, who will lead the future and benefit mankind.
