On the afternoon of August 20, Huang Dawei, vice president of Southeast University, went to the School of Economics and Management for investigation. The party and government leadership of the School of Economics and Management attended the meeting. The meeting was chaired by Yuan Jianhong, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Economics and Management of Southeast University.
At the meeting, Secretary Yuan Jianhong made a report, titled "Concentrate on Building the First-class School of Economics and Management", and reported in detail the development status, existing problems, and future development plans of the school. Through the joint efforts of teachers and students of the whole college, the college has made great progress in discipline construction, personnel training, scientific research, teaching staff, and international cooperation during the "13th Five-Year Plan" period. During the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, the college adheres to Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, the direction of socialist education, and the mainline of "take on the mission and lead the development", focuses on the fundamental task of cultivating people with morality, puts efforts on the "four aspects" of scientific and technological innovation, and strengthens the value orientation of “Economic benefits for the people, management checks and balances”. Secretary Yuan proposed five development strategies, including strengthening the college with talents, training first-class leading talents, first-class scientific research, internationalized school running, and cultural inheritance and innovation, which will further stimulate the innovational development of the college and its progress of constructing a first-class college.
At the meeting, Vice President Zhang Yulin reported on the college's postgraduate enrollment, training, and scientific research, and put forward specific measures on how to improve the college's scientific research work in the next stage, especially on how to seek breakthroughs in major projects such as the National Natural Science Foundation. Vice President Lv Hongjiang reported on the development status, existing problems, and the "14th Five-Year" strategic plan for MBA and EMBA. She proposed to echo the "New Engineering" strategy, reshape the goal of talent training, and strengthen the quality of MBA and EMBA talent training. Deputy Secretary He Yi reported the situation of the college's student work under the guidance of the work concept of "high-level planning for student affairs, and high-quality service for student development", and reported in detail the current deficiencies and improvement measures, and proposed reforms and innovations from both internal and external aspects to build a first-class school of economics and management. Vice President Pu Zhengning reported the development status of undergraduate teaching, teaching and research in the college, and elaborated on the challenges of the college in the two aspects of enrollment and training, as well as in the construction of college majors, and discussed the next stage of undergraduate key work.
At the end of the meeting, Vice President Huang Dawei delivered a speech. He first emphasized that the college should attach great importance to two things: first, the school must continue to in-depth study, publicize and implement Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, unremittingly use the party's innovative theory to arm our minds, guide our practice and promote our work, solidly carry out the study and education of party history, and do a good job in organizing life meetings recently, while party members and leading cadres must strictly implement the dual organization life meeting system. The second is to strictly implement the requirements of the school's epidemic prevention and control in accordance with the unified deployment of the school's party committee, effectively do a good job in the school's epidemic prevention and control, put the lives of teachers and students in the first place, and do a good job in the tasks of online teaching. He also put forward four requirements for the reform and development of the college: first, to gather the wisdom of the teachers and students at the whole college, consolidate the reform and development measures of the college in the new five years, and vigorously promote the college in discipline construction, talent training, scientific research, teaching staff, and international cooperation, as well as other aspects of development, support the construction of the National Development and Policy Research Institute, and strive to become a national-level think tank and play a practical role. The second is to intensify the introduction of talents, firmly establish the awareness that talents are the first resource and lead the college to develop rapidly and become first-class through the gathering of high-end talents. The third is to continue to take the road of internationalization, further promoting the internationalization of the school. Under the uncertainty of the global epidemic and economic and trade situation, the school should take the initiative to "cultivate new opportunities in crisis, open up new situations in changing situations", broaden horizons, and expand the in-depth search for international cooperation. The fourth is to vigorously strengthen the work of alumni, dig deep into alumni resources and social resources, plan and carry out a series of activities for the School of Economics and Management alumni joint school foundation, strengthen the construction of a communication platform with alumni, comprehensively maintain various the School of Economics and Management alumni resource networks, and promote the development of the School of Economics and Management Fund work to create a "reservoir" for the development of the college.
